Birthplace of the Spanish language and wine land

La Rioja, located in the north of Iberian Peninsula, is one of the 17 Autonomous Regions into which Spain is divided. It has around 325.000 inhabitants who enjoy good quality of life and a high level of public safety.

La Rioja is a region rich in history, culture, heritage and traditions, world famous for the quality of its wines.

The people of La Rioja are known for their open, cheerful and hospitable character.

Yuso and Suso Monasteries are located in San Millán de la Cogolla, just 40 minutes far from Logroño. The Monasteries are the birthplace of the oldest known written words of the Spanish language and were included in UNESCO´s World Heritage List in 1996.

In La Rioja wineries it is possible to taste different types of wines or to visit the Museum of the Culture of Wine where you will stroll through the history, culture and wine-making.

St. James’ Way, the most important pilgrims’ route in all Christendom, crosses Logroño and leads walkers from all over the world to our region who have notably enriched our cultural tradition.

In Ezcaray, a lovely town which sits at the foot of the mountains, it is possible to go skiing in winter and enjoy jazz music in the summer
